Description Galen Charlton 2014-02-26 15:55:04 UTC
At present, if you want to see if an item attached to a host bib is also linked to another bib, you have to either click the "Analytics" tab or choose "Analyze items" from the cataloging toolbar. This will cause the "Used in" column to display in the holdings table as well as the "Create analytics" link.

However, we could just display all of the item relationship information all the time. This would mean that we would remove clicks to see the analytic relationships and simplify the construction of the holdings table.

Specifically, what I suggest is:

- Remove the analytics tab
- Remove the analyze items toolbar action

When analytics support is turned on:

- Always display the "used in" column. Perhaps it could be combined with the "host item" column to make a single "Analytics" or "Item relationships" column
- move the create analytics link to the actions column

We would support this.
When viewing the child record I would want to see the library/location/call number and availability status of the parent record as that is where I can find it on the shelf. (there probably needs to be a config option to determine this)

Also in some cases we have a separate loose copies of the child item as well so there would be a 2nd copy of that - ideally on the same bib record as the link to the parent.

another table next to the holding details in the staff client may be useful to show the parent record or the child records linked to it as appropriate.
