Description Karl Berry 2014-06-08 22:52:31 UTC
When searching for an author or title, say, Shakespeare, I would often like to see alphabetically nearby results that do not match -- authors named Shake, Shale, Shane, etc. (e/g/, centered on the search term). This is like browsing a physical shelf in a library. Doing the same by title is often even more interesting. And such search results can be useful even when there is no match at all for the given term.

The previous software (Millennium, FWIW) at our library system did this, and it is the feature I miss most now that we have switched to Koha. If it's in fact possible to do it in Koha, I'd be grateful to know how; neither I nor our librarians have had any luck finding such an option.

Just a wish.

Thanks,
Karl

I believe what you are describing is covered by Bug 569, one of Koha's oldest open enhancement requests.
