Description Liz Rea 2015-08-27 00:24:20 UTC
The Rancor professional cataloguing advanced search interface has a couple of small usability problems, which I don't think preclude it getting in, but could use a tidy up at some point.

Advanced Search window:

- unchecking the only checked searched server doesn't clear the results (or take you back to the search screen)

- checking a searched server that has no results still shows the formerly checked server's paging, even if there are no results.

- It's not clear to the user that a given server has no results from the search area. (The count is displayed next to the server, though, so it's not completely context free, thanks for that!)

- the layout of the page, while having similar functionality to the z39.50 search box, is different and that seems unexpected to users. Because the functionality is similar (though not exactly the same!) as the existing z39.50 search functions, I feel the layout should be the same, with the servers to search on the right, and the fields to the left, and the search button below the server list, on the right. < this last will be a slight difference to the existing windows, to accommodate the functionality of this new search screen.
