Description Kumar 2016-02-29 09:38:00 UTC
Created attachment 48435 [details]
The attachment shows that though item is a standard in the view it shows material type as book

Though we have different type of materials defined in the koha and in search page both opac and staff client catalogue search it shows as "Material type: book" with image for all item types, can this be rectified.

I checked in one of the public opac searches also using KOHA, though we select the other item type other than books it still displays as "Material type: book".

If any configuration part I missed, please let me know so that I correct my KOHA configuration

Regards

Item type is different than material type. Item type is a value which you can define according to your library's needs. It might match the material type of your item, or it might be used to define circulation rules. How you use it is up to you.

Material type is a setting defined by the MARC standard:

https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd008.html

You can select from existing values but cannot create your own.

I hope this helps explain it. If you have further questions about this or other features in Koha please post to the Koha general mailing list:
