Is this really fixed? I cant find the patch in Koha anywhere The patch was sent and apparently never merged (I don't know why, but I see josh's attitude above). I'm not sure where the FIXED tag came from. There have been more developments since, it will all need porting forward now and there may be a research project starting next month which might fund that work, but what I really could do with is collaboration from a library with some ISO-28560 SIP2 RFID devices to make sure we're compatible. What's the correct way of showing this in the bug tracker? I've made some guesses. Please change them if wrong. Hi All, I wanted to go on record as being available to help find testers for any RFID testing you might need. I just came upon this thread so it may be old but if you are looking for help and need some testing libraries, let me know. And in terms of 28560, our US libraries will be moving (eventually) to 28560-2 so any development related to making use of the new standard will need to have support for both 28560-2 and 28560-3. And if necessary, I can help find funding to make sure there's support for both. I don't have anything more specific to offer at this point but if this starts going anyway, would you let me know? Lori Needs a new patch for Template::Toolkit Sad to see this one lost. I think the ability to write tags from Koha would be really nice. At the moment it requires additional steps to program the tag and set the item up in Koha. (In reply to Katrin Fischer from comment #5) > Sad to see this one lost. I wonder how many libraries are using RFID tags and not realizing a bit of sponsorship could lead to a new feature. Apparently I have some RFID gear here in the office. We don't have many libraries using RFID, but it would be fun... I can't find those Perl modules on CPAN anymore. Otherwise, I was going to say this could make for an interesting Koha plugin. The ability to read/write RFID tags natively from Koha (similar to how bar code readers are supported) would be amazingly beneficial! If a fiscal sponsor is needed it is likely that Basin Libraries Consortium in Utah, United States could commit some funding. this would be a fantastic addition to Koha. Right now many public libraries pay for third party software to read and write RFID tags. RFID pads should work similar to barcode readers and koha should have built in abilities to read/write RFID. if there is any sorry for the last comment, now the real one. I am working on Koha and Rfid integration for a little time now and wanted to share some insights. My library migrates from a system that has full RFID staff integration (single and bulk items checkin and checkout, writing data model to tags, secure, desecure). The self service station is using SIP2 which is already implemented in Koha and works fine. This is what my staff integration does so far: 1. Koha plugin - JS injection to circulation, returns and add item - Checkin and Checkout via AJAX to offline_circ/service.pl (details later) - rfid device is accessed via 2. or via webusb (depending on the reader) 2. A node backend server offering a RESTlike and a websocket interface to attached RFID readers commonly used in Germany (FEIG) 3. JS library to convert a 28560-3 JSON data model to bytecode This works pretty good but is using the offline circulation endpoint to fetch if a transaction was ok or not. Better would be using the API which is still in progress (#24401, #23336) If there is any interest the RFID backend is on github - https://github.com/BibliothekTHWildau/node-rfid-server ISO28560 conversion: - https://github.com/BibliothekTHWildau/ISO28560-3js Koha-Plugin: - not published yet for feedback or if someone wants to join developing a RFID plugin please feel free to contact me. Hi Jan, this is exciting stuff, but maybe a little lost on Bugzilla as not a lot of people will find it here. Maybe consider sharing on the mailing list as well or join us in the new chat? (chat.koha-community.org using Mattermost) (In reply to Jan Kissig from comment #11) > I am working on Koha and Rfid integration for a little time now and wanted > to share some insights. Sounds like an awesome project! I know too little about RFID, but I know it was important to Oslo public library (Deichman) while they were using Koha. ...and I wanted to mention that their old code is still here, written in Go: https://github.com/digibib/koha-rfidhub2 |
