Circulation function:

Description Andrew Fuerste-Henry 2020-06-18 17:59:45 UTC
When an item is claimed returned, there isn't any place in the OPAC for the patron to see their claims. Could we add a claims tab to the patron account on the OPAC, mirroring what's on the staff side?
Comment 1 Donna 2020-06-18 18:33:58 UTC
It would be nice if this was configurable so libraries can decide whether or not this shows to patrons.
Comment 2 George Williams (NEKLS) 2020-06-22 14:26:32 UTC
I agree with Donna. It would be nice if this was a choice.

I agree with Donna. It would be nice if Library has this choice. Now it makes patron confused.
Comment 5 Tanya 2020-06-29 14:46:58 UTC
I agree with Donna that it would be helpful if libraries can decide whether or not to show "claims returned" items on the patron's side. Our patrons do not want to see items showing on their account if they have returned/claims returned the items. And staff feel that if we have marked the items claims returned that the items are no longer the patron's problem as we have accepted that they have been returned.
Comment 6 Diane 2020-10-08 12:33:59 UTC
Currently it looks to the patron as if a claims returned item is still checked out to them, which is confusing for them. The opac should reflect what is on the staff side and it'd be nice if libraries had a choice if claims returned were visible to the patron.
Comment 7 Cheryl 2021-03-05 18:06:08 UTC
Is anyone working on this? We would need to have this function in place before we can start using Claims Returned. As someone else mentioned, all the patron sees is that they still have the item checked out, and they do not see the "Claims" status. It looks like just a regular checkout for them.

Donna, when you say configurable, do you mean the configuration choices should be between how it is now versus adding the Claims status to the item on the patron side, or between showing Claims status on the item to the patron and not showing the Claimed item at all to the patron?

I think it would be great if there were 3 options

1. Add the status to the patron side
2. Not showing the claimed item to the patron at all
3. Leaving it as it is now (although someone could just but a space for the OPAC description of the lost status maybe if they wanted it like it is now?)

We are already using the claimed return as it is. If 2 was an option we'd probably do that though.
