Description Mathieu Saby 2021-08-02 09:33:31 UTC
It could be useful to add metadata to lists, for sorting and managing them. For example a subject field, or some generic fields customisable by the libray, like in patron records
Comment 1 Sarah Cornell 2021-11-04 14:04:27 UTC
Agreed! We have public lists that we would like to describe for users, indicating when they are updated or their association with a program, etc.
Comment 2 Mathieu Saby 2025-01-17 10:08:47 UTC
Sarah could you give an complete list of the fields you consider indispensable?

Comment 5 Mathieu Saby 2026-01-18 12:14:33 UTC
Perhaps we should clarify the scope of this ticket: it concerns additional customizable fields, not adding fields common to all lists (description, etc.) : this would be useful but in another ticket.
Comment 6 Sarah Cornell 2026-01-20 14:51:41 UTC
Thanks for bringing this back to the surface, Mathieu. I missed your question last year. I'm not sure I understand the distinction between additional customizable fields and fields common to all lists.

Two free-text note fields would suffice for a start.

public note: display on the OPAC and the intranet
non-public note: displays on the intranet only
Comment 7 Mathieu Saby 2026-01-21 08:48:24 UTC
In Koha terminology "additional fields" = custom fields in /cgi-bin/koha/admin/additional-fields.pl
In this page we can add custom fields in Order baskets, Order lines, etc.
The idea would be to make it possible to add custom fields for Lists.
Comment 8 kch-tr.lhl-consortium@nhs.net 2026-01-26 08:27:28 UTC
I may be missing something, but I'm not sure I understand how these two bugs are related?
Bug 28795 seems to be asking for customisable additional fields that libraries can define themselves for managing and describing lists.
Bug 38917 is requesting specific fields (expiration date and publication date) that would control when lists are visible in the OPAC, similar to the existing functionality for Pages and News items.
From comment 3 on bug 28795, it sounds like that bug is specifically about library-defined custom fields, rather than standard fields common to all lists?
Could someone clarify whether expiration/publication dates would fall under the scope of bug 28795, or whether they should remain as a separate enhancement request?
Thanks for any guidance on this.
Comment 9 Mathieu Saby 2026-01-26 10:13:04 UTC
Yes indeed this is confusing. I opened the ticket 5 years ago, I did not realized at that time that those ideas should be treated separately.
Comment 10 Mathieu Saby 2026-01-26 10:14:40 UTC
I reopen Bug 38917 - Lists should have an Expiration date option

This one should be only about fields customizable by the library
Comment 11 Mathieu Saby 2026-01-26 10:15:48 UTC
Sarah, if you think some fields are missing for lists and should be added for all Koha instances, please fill an other ticket.
