Description Andrew Isherwood 2022-10-03 11:40:50 UTC
An ILL request has a "cost" field associated with it. This is intended to be used to indicate the cost of a request as quoted by a supplier. Support for actually using this field is somewhat lacking. The current use is:

- The BLDSS backend populates it upon request placement, the value is derived from the BLDSS request response
- The "Edit request" screen displays the value, or N/A if not populated. This value is read-only and cannot be modified.

What needs to be done:

- Other ILL backends should add support for populating the "cost" field during request placement
- Modify the "Edit request" template to allow the value to be modified.

We use the cost field in our backend for the fee that can be charged to the patron for the ILL request. I am not sure how support for backend would be implemented as not all ILL systems might charge/have costs.

Maybe this should cover the 'make editable'?

Has anyone thought about integration with acquisitions, and whether cost or price would be mapped?

This might have implications for this bug.

In addition, perhaps cost and price need to be relabelled?

We use both differently I think.
We have cost for additional costs (like for extra many copies) and it can be optionally charged to the patron (some libraries do, others don't)
Price paid is used for a charge to the patron per request.
