Description Chris Cormack 2010-05-21 01:08:51 UTC

---- Reported by mcoalwell@nekls.org 2009-06-05 18:43:31 ----

Koha needs a separate Status Check functionality that is entirely separate from "Check In." Check In triggers transfers and other situationally undesirable behavior when the user is simply trying to determine the current status (checked out? on hold? in transit?) of an item. Checking In an item more than once also has undesirable ramifications in some situations.

A separate Status Check function would resolve these issues.

Still valid on current master?
Comment 2 Daniel Gaghan 2019-02-28 23:13:33 UTC
As of 18.05 this is still not a feature and is requested by PCCLD staff.

We migrated to Koha about 6 months ago and realized this would be a super helpful feature to have. If we need to check the status of an item and don't want to check it in, we use "Search Catalog" and enter the barcode, but when there are multiple copies held at multiple locations you still have to sort through all the items to find the correct one.

A status check that quickly tells staff if the item is checked in/out, lost, missing, available, or something else would be awesome!
