The code for this is quite complicated, but I think the goal here was to use terms targeted to the users. I think some of the MARC terminology would be really hard to understand for library patrons. There is some documentation on the icons in the manual. I am not sure how complete it is, but maybe it would be a good starting point for discussion: https://koha-community.org/manual/latest/en/html/cataloging.html#material-type-cataloging-guide-label Showing Film for a DVD is not useful, it is confusing to patrons. Use of 000, 007 & 008 allows you to accurately show the Material Type being used. |
