The system preference AdditionalContentsEditor currently sets the default editor for all Additional Contents:
- News
- HTML customizations
- Pages
If you have set the preference to use the "WYSIWYG" editor, it's easy to accidentally make changes in HTML customizations that cause things like accessibility in the OPAC to break.
On the other hand, for "just News", the WYSIWYG editor is indeed helpful and it could be annoying to have to use the text editor.

I can also see situations where a librarian wants to use WYSIWYG in the news and specifically wants to use text editor / codemirror for the HTML customizations.

It would be nice to separate AdditionalContentsEditor into one syspref for the News and a different syspref for HTML customizations and pages. That way you could choose which default editor you want for either.
