I like this idea for consortiums with different hold limits. If the hold is suspended than it should not count towards the hold limits. One concern I have is, if the patron places a hold it is active until they suspend it. So they would run into the hold limit before having a chance to suspend it. I still think this is a good idea though, for patrons who like to use their holds as a TBR they are likely to have the majority of their holds suspended and therefore would not be running into limits very often. Ideally, I would like to implement a limit on suspended holds so patrons cannot maintain an unlimited number on their accounts. Suspended holds would not count toward the active holds limit, but each patron would be restricted to a set maximum number of suspended holds. |
