We don't need extra fields for sorting or distinguishing item records, but a circulation count increase for statistical purposes. The two bugs don't seem the same to me. It also allows for multi-circ statistics to be logged (i.e: Season > 1 of Game of Thrones with 6 disks would qualify; 1 checkout with 6 items > counted as statistical checkouts). > > It would be beneficial to create an editable field in the marc record to > place the number of disks or pieces and have it tied to the circulation > statistics of those items. Are you saying that when checking out Season 1 of Game of Thrones as 1 transaction, you'd want it to count as 6 checkouts in the "statistics" table? Yes, that's it exactly. We had this functionality in our previous ILS and it was very helpful. It cannot be used for items such as audiobooks (where every disk is dependent on the other disks in a set order), but for items that have multiple pieces that can stand on their own (such as episodes that don't necessarily need to be watched in order). The count served two purposes. It alerted circ staff to look for all the pieces and it counted items as multiple circulations. |
