Description Christopher Brannon 2025-10-27 22:08:06 UTC
There is a message that display when a patron with a patron category that is limited to a specific library is brought up at a library other than that library.

For example, patron category X is limited to library A. When library B brings up this patron, they are presented with the message:

The patron's current category (X) is limited to other libraries. [Change category]

The patron is allowed to check out from other libraries, but this makes it appear that these other libraries are supposed to change the category.

We have certain non-resident categories that are tied to automatic annual fees. Various libraries have various fees, which is why we assign specific non-resident categories to specific libraries.

There is no need for them to change these categories, unless they are paying at a different library. Therefore, it is rather confusing and misleading for this message to come up.

It would be helpful if we could suppress this message for any or all categories. I could see it as an option in the category setup.
