Another one I got in my most recent migration is the highlighting link. There is a system preference for the default highlighting, but there is noting to remove the option. I think libraries are tending toward a sleek, minimal interface not loaded with options that are unfamiliar to their target audience (like Save record for public libraries, for example). It would be great if all those links in the sidebar had an on/off switch. It could either be in one system preference where libraries could decide what options they want in the sidebar, or individual ones for each option, which is the current way. Links controlled by individual sysprefs - Place hold : controlled by OPACHoldRequests (among others... that one is a complicated one) - Place recall : controlled by UseRecalls - Request article : controlled by circulation rules? - Save to your lists : controlled by virtualshelves - Add to your cart : controlled by opacbookbag - Report a concern : controlled by OpacCatalogConcerns - Send to device : controlled by OPACDetailQRCode - Save record : controlled by OpacExportOptions (remove everything in the pref to remove the link) - More searches : controlled by OPACSearchForTitleIn (remove everything in the pref to remove the link) Links that are unhideable other than by CSS/JS hack - Print : no control/always present - Cite : no control/always present - Suggest for purchase : controlled by suggestion / no specific pref for suggestions on existing records - Highlight/Unhighlight : no control/always present I can create individual bug reports for those missing, if necessary. |
