Description Thanasis M 2020-02-24 10:07:01 UTC
Hi everyone, i am new to Koha.

My library has both English and Greek books. When i add a book with greek characters, the biblio table fills correctly, but biblio_metadata (in the collumn metadata) the xml doesnt show the greek characters. That way the recordings have only the ISBN code correctly. It is a coding issue because he english books are all saved correctly, but what is it?!

Thank you all :)

Hi Thanasis, please note that bugzilla is used for reporting bugs and enhancement requests and only very few people read the new bugs - it's almost always better to check on the mailing list first if someone can help you out.

Things that come to mind here:
- How do you catalog your records? Are they downloaded or manually added?
- Have you modified the frameworks in any way?
- Do you have a LDR set? (this has a position for encoding that can mess things up if missing)

Oh, sorry and thank you for the reply!

-The records are manually added.
-I use a basic framework (it was installed automatic with Koha) and i only made some subfields ignored.
-I dont have an LDR set, i dont even know what that is.

The problem is that greek characters in table biblio_metadata are not been saved at all. I guess its a "Perl" problem, but what exactly!

It's mor likely to be a configuration issue - Koha is really good with Unicode.
The LDR or 000 field must be included - if you made that ignored, it could cause your issue.

Thank you, that was it! I did not have 000 field at all. I still dont understand why i should have it (it is filling automatically) but that was it. Thank you again!

It contains information on the encoding of the record - I have run into this previously with German umlauts :)
