Description Kelly McElligott 2020-10-02 13:48:58 UTC
Currently, specifically to Overdues, it is up the library to decide how they send out their Overdue Notices- email, SMS, phone, print. It would be extremely helpful to libraries and patrons to have the patron choose which format they receive their message in - instead of the library sending it to all formats and for those patrons that have both SMS and email on file, they would only get this message in their desired format instead of both.

Hi there! Eric from Salina Public again. Yes, we would really appreciate this addition to the system. Currently, we have patrons who have both an email and SMS number, but since some still do not have either we also check the "print" option in the Overdue Notices and Triggers section. When we get our print notices each morning we currently double-check to make sure they haven't already been notified twice with the more immediate methods before we send them something through the mail. This would be a great help with that workflow. Also, for those patrons who really only check SMS it would be nice to not send to their email on file since they won't be checking it there.

This would be a great enhancement! Is it something you are going to work on, or more of an idea not to be forgotten?

In Germany overdue notices are often tied to fines and sometimes have to be sent as print or email. It would be nice if this could be optional so for overdues the libraries can pick the format without leaving the choice to the patrons.
