For cataloging new records I extensively use the Z39.50 search and import functionality.

If searching for a new record using the button "Import via Z39.50/SRU" it opens a new smaller search window. If the a library (installed via z39.50/sru servers) is SELECTED BEFORE (right side of the window, step 1 screenshot in attachment) and than the ISBN-number is put in by an USB barcode-scanner from the isbn-barcode then the number-input is also send to the browser-window (staying in the background) which is made active. The isbn-number is put into the browser search bar. I guess this happens due to the browser (firefox 78.6.0esr) auto-search functionality. I havn't found any way to prevent this behavior in the browser settings. The smaller search window will be deactivated and send to background. However it can be activated by clicking in the buttom menu bar and then the search results are shown. (step 2 screenshot in attachment)

If a library to search in is NOT SELECTED BEFORE, the isbn-number is not send to the browser window in the background and the small search window stays activated. A notice window opens telling that one has to select a library.

I can't replicate this. My guess would be that maybe some *UserJs or browser plugins could have caused this.

It could also have been fixed since, it's hard to tell.

Please reopen if you can still reproduce the problem in newer versions.
