Description Jake Deery 2022-01-14 15:56:57 UTC
Hi,

Foremost, this is my first bug report. If the community has preferences on how this system is best used, please do let me know, and I'll be happy to learn!

One of our customers recently asked me to file this bug report. Their exact comments were:
"Also, I wondered if it would be worth to put this on the bugzilla as a desired implementation in one of the coming Koha versions, to add Title series and Publisher. I can imagine other libraries also finding this useful.
And to have the option to 'hide' fields from the Z39.50/SRU search form that are not relevant to a certain library (maybe in the same way you can now hide certain columns from showing in e.g. the item record)."

I think it would be a great Koha enhancement to be able to pick which attributes are used in Z39.50 / SRU searches, hide/remove unnecessary values, and even add custom search attributes as required.

If anyone has anything to add/suggest, please be my guest, and take the floor!

This sort of enhancement has been requested by a number of libraries. One of the most common requests is to have a way to see in the search results what the format of the record is. For instance, if I do a search and get three results, all containing the same ISBN, I have to look at each record to determine if the record is the print, ebook, audio etc as that info is not readily displayed. So in this case, some way to see the leader and 008.

While we can add additional search fields to the results display, it gets rather unwieldy quickly.

Being able to choose what fields should show in the search results would be very helpful. Perhaps a system preference where you can list which fields are wanted/unwanted?

Hey Donna it is not possible through the additional fields function to see the 336, 337, 338 which is quite helpful. We just added this additional information this semester
