Description Lucas Gass 2022-11-17 19:18:28 UTC
If you add some ITEMTYPECAT categories and then assign some item types to that group and go the OPAC advanced search you will see the ITEMTYPECAT group appear with the other item types.

They do not not appear in the staff client adavnced search or item search. They should probably appear on both.

I am not sure about this one. Maybe it could be a preference or a separate tab on advanced search in staff? I could imagine that staff needs the more granular search option while they want to group for users.

It would be ideal if the expanded and collapsed versions of the search were available, so staff could search for all Movies (DVD and Blu-Ray) and narrow down to preferred format.

My staff have asked for this- we have so many detailed item types, they would also like the ability to do quicker broad searches. For example, we have several item types related to DVDs, BLUrays, and 4k movies. Sometimes our staff want to grab a cart of all the related media and want to just narrow to 'Movies' without having to select all the specific item types. If the advanced search retained the ability to search based on the item types, but also had an option to search based on ITEMTYPECAT groups, that would be the best of both worlds for us!

I'd like this to be on separate tabs, what do you think? This way it would also be easy to see what is a grouped item type and what is a singular one and it would give us a 'short list' and a 'long list' for easier navigation.

I think separate tabs would work for this purpose, giving libraries the ability to search in expanded or condensed item type groupings.
