I have a lot of issues with the Cite feature in KOHA (the Cite in Zotero is fine). Personally, I don't like it as it is not correct at all! For example, the entire title of the item is not listed, there is no complete name of the author, and there is no italicizing for citation styles that use it. It also doesn't list which Chicago style it is using. Why is there both a Cite and Cite in Zotero? As a user, I would not scroll down to see the Cite in Zotero and just use the Cite feature which is listed first.
I'm assuming you're referring to the "Cite" menu item shown on the bibliographic detail page in the OPAC? There is no "Cite in Zotero" link in Koha code. My guess this is a customization to your system?
I was going to suggest the same as Owen, I think he Cite in Zotero appears maybe because of an installed browser plugin or similar? Issues with the generic Cite feature in Koha should be filed as separate bugs with a good bug description ("Cite feature" is too general)
They way the cite feature is built makes it impossible to make markup changes to individual parts of the citation (author, title, etc.). I think it would be great to make it more flexible.
I asked this in the IRC: "Hi! Is there a system preference that controls citation in Koha ILS? We are seeing APA, Chicago, Harvard and MLA in citation." aude_c replied: "Hi! No, there is no system preference. You just get what you see  Being able to decide what citation styles are displayed sounds like an idea for an enhancement. Do log it on Bugzilla!" And I see Owen Leonard's comment, "They way the cite feature is built makes it impossible to make markup changes to individual parts of the citation (author, title, etc.). I think it would be great to make it more flexible." Will it be better if my bug proposal be put here instead of creating one? Please advise. Thanks!
Bugs with specific requests are always better. A bug which just complains about something without suggesting how it *should* be isn't helpful. I encourage you to submit another bug describing in detail what you're asking for.
Hi This is my first bugzilla post. The Cite feature in OPAC displaying a bottom of record detail page would be great if it worked. It needs to pick up from more MARC21 fields eg similar to Bibtxt Eg a record from our catalog in Bibtex book{9304, author = {Fanslow, Janet L. and Mellar, Brooklyn M. }, title = {Help-seeking by women and men after experiencing any IPV, including physical, sexual, and psychological IPV, controlling behaviors, or economic abuse :}, publisher = {Sage, }, year = {2025}, note = {Journal of Interpersonal Violence, 2025, First published online, 24 June 2025}, url = {https://doi.org/10.1177/08862605251339646} Not pretty but useable as it includes note field where we put journal reference details and Url compare APA from Cite Fanslow J. L., Mellar B. M., Malihi Z. (., Gulliver P. & McIntosh T. (2025). Help-seeking by women and men after experiencing any IPV, including physical, sexual, and psychological IPV, controlling behaviors, or economic abuse. : Sage. No DOI, also only picks up Title 245, but not remainder of title (Bibtex misses this too). Any way the Cite feature could be improved? Alternatively, maybe it needs a system Pref to turn off or on.
