Description Nicole C. Engard 2013-03-12 11:38:07 UTC
When doing ILL it would be nice if you could enter the due date when you checked out the item. So the suggestion is an option in the circ matrix that lets you say 'ask for due date when checking out' so that when you scan an item of that type it prompts you for the due date.

You can specify due date now, but you have to enter it before you scan the barcode because the barcode scanner clicks 'check out' so this would solve this problem for items that have varying check out lengths.

Still a nice idea to handle materials that you want to checkout with a flexible due date.

This would be really helpful for things such as ILLs too where you don't have a clearly defined circulation period for every item in that item type. Perhaps something in the circ rules that asks if you want to circulate this for the standard period which would give the due date of xxxx, or would you like to define the circ period.

+1 on this, for the stated reason of ILL lending where the checkout period is not determined locally.

We now have the option to add the due_date in the ILL backend and use it in circulation, not quite the same, but maybe still helpful to some:
