---- Reported by newdurhamlibrary@gmail.com 2008-08-22 10:44:33 ---- ISBN-13 numbers do not work with AmazonContent. Koha appears to send only the first number in the ISBN field (the 020 field). According to cataloging rules, that's the ISBN-13, which means that the majority of MARC records aren't able to use AmazonContent. If there are multiple entries in the 020, Koha needs to send both entries-- or at least, the ISBN-10, which is what actually works with Amazon. ---- Additional Comments From danny.bouman@hclibrary.org 2008-11-24 11:29:57 ---- Related to http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=2817 Hopefully, this will help improve the amount of Amazon content returned. ---- Additional Comments From nengard@gmail.com 2008-12-10 06:37:14 ---- 2817 has been pushed through - is this bug fixed now? ---- Additional Comments From danny.bouman@hclibrary.org 2008-12-10 07:22:30 ---- Currently, this is still a problem with pulling Amazon cover art. I was going to wait to close this until that piece has been fixed as well. ---- Additional Comments From nengard@gmail.com 2008-12-10 07:25:29 ---- *** http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=2817 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** ---- Additional Comments From nengard@gmail.com 2009-04-03 16:32:50 ---- Where are we with this? ---- Additional Comments From jmf@liblime.com 2009-04-05 12:04:11 ---- Isn't this a bug with Amazon, not Koha? ---- Additional Comments From nengard@gmail.com 2009-04-05 14:15:30 ---- Not based on what I've heard. If we can send them both ISBNs then we can get the right images. That said, I think there is a fix in the works. ---- Additional Comments From jmf@liblime.com 2009-04-05 16:32:52 ---- The Amazon API does not have an option to send more than one ISBN at a time to link to an icon, or to grab any web services content. It appears that this will require a re-write of how the links are generated, which is a fairly non-trivial operation for the icon links ... See https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/help/t5/a16 ---- Additional Comments From newdurhamlibrary@gmail.com 2009-04-08 18:53:53 ---- It isn't even necessarily that Koha needs to send both ISBNs. It just needs better rules for which to send-- if there's an ISBN-13 and ISBN-10, Koha needs to send Amazon the 13. It should only send 10s when there is no IBSN-13 issued. ---- Additional Comments From newdurhamlibrary@gmail.com 2009-04-08 20:47:04 ---- (In reply to comment #9) > It isn't even necessarily that Koha needs to send both ISBNs. It should only send 10s when there is no IBSN-13 > issued. > Grr, I wrote the complete opposite of what I meant. What I was trying to say: if we could get Koha to always send the ISBN-10 over the ISBN-13, (not the other way around), Koha would get a much higher hit rate from Amazon. --- Bug imported by chris@bigballofwax.co.nz 2010-05-21 00:52 UTC --- This bug was previously known as _bug_ 2550 at http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=2550 Actual time not defined.
