---- Reported by bchurch@ptfs.com 2009-02-20 06:32:34 ---- The bounce alert sent to libraries doesn't provide any ID info about the actual patron. The email address is often something completely unrelated to the patron's actual name. Currently the only way to find the patron record by their email address is to create a guided report using a SQL statement. Unfortunately, even a mid-sized library might receive dozens of email bounces due to bad or changed patron email addresses each day. Looking up each patron individually by an SQL guided report isn't feasible. If the bounce message contained a patron barcode in the subject line or body of the message this would solve the problem. ---- Additional Comments From oleonard@myacpl.org 2009-02-20 06:45:25 ---- Excellent point: My library has had problems with this as well, and in the past our solution was to create a custom search interface (in PHP) for searching by email. This also highlights the need for a patron advanced search to allow librarians to search for *any* specific piece of the patron record. --- Bug imported by chris@bigballofwax.co.nz 2010-05-21 01:04 UTC --- This bug was previously known as _bug_ 2972 at http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=2972 Actual time not defined. I think it's still relevant. Owen ? Did the runtime option for SQL report help ? Is it enough ? Any idea where to put the borrowernumber ? isn't displaying the patron cardnumber in the mail a good idea/solution/workaround (that should work already) ?
Patron search now allows to search by email address, also you can include the needed information in the message body that shoull be attached to the bounce email alert (I think). Tested on 3.10.1. Please reopen or file a new bug if this is still a problem.
