Description Chris Cormack 2010-05-21 01:05:56 UTC

---- Reported by nengard@gmail.com 2009-03-26 11:52:36 ----

Patrons can place holds at the item level, but the item number/barcode doesn't show on the holds to pull list - just the bib level information.

Another reason to put the item number there is for libraries who use Dewey and do not have unique call numbers for each title - meaning that they don't know which one of the items they're looking for on the shelf.

My recommendation for this is to add the item barcode to the column that says 'Available Call Numbers' - and renaming the column to read 'Available Copies' or 'Available Items' That way it shows the call number and the item's barcode. If more than one item has that call number it is important to know which item is actually supposed to be pulled.

Or under Items Available - which I just saw :) instead of putting '1' put the item barcode with a link to the item.

Just an update on this. While the report is pulling the call number from the items table - it is only pulling the call number of the first item, not a specific item. This means that my patch which adds the barcode does not add the barcode of the right item per-se, but just the first item, like the call number. Is it possible that the Holds Queue and Holds to Pull lists should be merged into one report that shows what's on hold and available for patrons?

This bug is still valid. I would say that the display of item-level information in this report is problematic all around (library, call number, barcode, etc).

This is still valid for current master.
