---- Reported by bchurch@ptfs.com 2009-04-16 12:27:53 ----

Dewey call numbers are not splitting correctly on spine labels. However, this problem is not happening consistently in a label batch. Some call numbers split properly while others do not.

I have also attached a PDF file showing the spine labels for a label batch where only 2 of the 9 call numbers split correctly.

Beverly - Carrie and I disagree with your assessment of the spine labels samples from our database which you have posted as an attachment. We think that 4 out of the 5 are correct. Numbered left to right - 1,2,7,8,9 are incorrect (and perhaps #8 has just reached the max characters for the width of the label?) Numbers 3,4,5,6 look good to us. If you need further clarification please let me know. Thanks!

Joe recently did some work to improve call numbers splitting (commit 657371808a3c4340d6cec755277e587f2b35442e), which I've installed on the test database. Andrea, please take a look at the PDF for the first label batch.

For the record, the remaining issue is splitting the call number 'CD-ROM 787.87 EAS', which is currently split as

CD
-ROM
787.87
EAS

and should be

CD-ROM
787.87
EAS

Pushed fix for splitting of "CD-ROM" prefix to HEAD.

Adrea: this fix is installed in your test database as of this morning - please test.

Submitted another patch so that a call number of the form MP3-CD F PARKER would be split as

MP3-CD
F
PARKER

instead of

MP
3
-CD
F
PARKER
