Description Nicole C. Engard 2012-12-06 15:18:15 UTC
When you try to check out items with different statuses (on hold for example) you get a warning, but if you try to check out an item that's in transit you don't get that warning and should.

I should add that the item that's in transit to fill a hold doesn't have an accurate error message either - it says it's waiting at the other branch when in reality it's in transit to the other branch.

We are having this issues with all of our 3M Self-checks now as well. When an item is "in transit" and ends up on the shelf, customers are able to take it to a self-check and successfully check the item out.

Ideally, this would not happen. "In Transit" items are usually being sent to another library to fill a request. In addition, once the item is checked out rather than sent in transit, it becomes almost like an item specific hold and the customer that was waiting for it initially will not get any other copy of that title. Their hold will not be filled until the customer that shouldn't have been able to check it out returns it.

I can provide details/test plans if needed but nothing seems to be moving on this bug.

Thanks,
Rendi

I suspect that this is not a high priority bug for a lot of folks. My library, for instance, give priority to the patron checking out the item. If the an in-transit item made it to the shelf by mistake that's not the patron's fault.

This I agree is a problem, and should probably be addressed as a separate bug.

Can you detail the bug a bit more?

I am not sure why checking out an in transit is bad as long as the transit gets cancelled or restarted when it's returned again.
