Description Kyle M Hall 2014-01-13 14:20:14 UTC
Enabling the TrackClicks feature (track anonymously)seems to mess up links to EBSCO e-books.

It was reported as a problem for a link to an e-book in the EBSCO Ebooks database. When you click on the link, it eventually resolves to the search interface of another one of our EBSCO databases (Alt HealthWatch).

Could this be a proxy issue? The reporter is using EZProxy. It didn't seem to affect URLs connection to e-books for ebrary, Taylor & Francis, or Oxford. Would we have to do something special in the ezproxy config or the EBSCO stanza to allow the TrackClicks feature to work?

I have been thinking, is the link catalogued in the record correct? It seems strange that the feature would send it to another database - I was thinking maybe someone used jQuery there to change the URLs on the fly.

I can confirm that when you have an Ebsco URL in the item record (u - Uniform Resource Identifier) the link ends up taking you to Ebsco but to the search page rather than the item.

Can you give us an example URL for testing?

EBSCO have given me this temporary link to create test urls:
http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=uid&user=koha15&password=test2015&profile=ehost&defaultdb=e000muk

Click on a thumbnail and go to the full display for the record. Then click on the "permalink" option at the right of the screen to get an url that you can put into an 856 tag for testing

Could the problem be bug 14441? I think there is a problem with links containing ampersands (&).
Comment 6 Katrin Fischer 2016-03-24 21:59:11 UTC
I think this is a duplicate to bug 14441 - please reopen if problem remains!
