Description paxed 2018-02-23 08:02:25 UTC
It should be possible to translate the library names, and it should be possible to use those translated names in notices and slips automatically.

Do you think of something similar to the itemtype description translation but for branchnames?

Yes

Also Library street adresses.
Comment 4 Katrin Fischer 2018-02-23 08:41:56 UTC
chris: can you give an example? Here I think it would always be the same, as a street name doesn't change with translation.
Comment 5 chris 2018-02-23 08:57:46 UTC
Here's an example:
Finnish: https://hakemisto.kirjastot.fi/porvoo
Swedish: https://hakemisto.kirjastot.fi/sv/porvoo

Name of the library in Finnish: Porvoon kaupunginkirjasto
Name of the library in Swedish: Borgå stadsbibliotek

Address in Finnish: Papinkatu 20, 06100 Porvoo
Address in Swedish: Prästgatan 20, 06100 Borgå

Notice how even the name of the city changes (Porvoo/Borgå).

Finland is just one of the multilingual conuntries of the world.

We even have street signs in two languages to comply to the rules of equal treatment.

Thx for the explanation!
Comment 7 Anni Rajala 2024-02-27 10:58:27 UTC
This would be a good feature, not only do we need to use the official languages (Finnish & Swedish) but it'd also be nice to translate the branchname to English as we have a lot of foreign customers.
