Description Chris Cormack 2010-05-20 23:29:22 UTC

---- Reported by rachel@katipo.co.nz 2003-04-09 07:57:54 ----

HLT Bug - Not sure if in 1.9x

We should not be able to delete or cancel an order if a reserve is
recorded against that order. Koha currently does not flag up a warning and
it should.

Will work on it on version 3.0.

2.4 is too close. and it would add some pages.

What's the status of this bug in 3.0?

imho, we should be able to delete the order & remove the reserve as well : if the book is no more available from any vendor, then you will have to cancel the order !

The second question now :
when you order a book, the biblio is created. And can be updated & fully cataloged.
so, what should we do if the order is cancelled ? ATM, we don't remove the biblio, the librarian must do it manually. I have no idea on how to do it another way.
Maybe remove the biblio if there is no item attached ? warn the librarian that the biblio won't be removed & he must do it manually ? another idea ?

reassigning to RM to have it's opinion !

The original bug was complaining that upon deletion of an order, a patron's hold remains as does the biblio record. So it sounds like the user (HLT) would prefer that the order not be deleted before something happens with the hold.

In speaking with various libraries, I often hear complains about how their current system handles canceled orders w/respect to holds and/or the brief/full bib associated with the order. It's one of those cases where every library wants something different to happen :-). I'm bumping this to an enhancement request. In a post-3.0 version we'll need to examine this carefully.

Does anyone want to take this bug on, and come up with a spec (or maybe it now works fine?)

Not volunteering, but a small spec is necessary - as the discussion indicates, the behavior is a matter of library preference.
