---- Reported by nengard@gmail.com 2009-05-04 15:09:50 ----

I have an idea for a Circ enhancement. In addition to the dropbox mode, why not have a Bookmobile or Mobile Library mode. This would mean that when you check items in at the Bookmobile instead of automatically transferring them back to the home library (as it does now) it keeps the books on the Bookmobile.

The way it works now, if you transfer a book to the Bookmobile it's permanent location stays as the main library and it's current location is the mobile library. This is good. But if you keep a book on the mobile library for a period of time you may check it out more than once. If you check a book out and then back in it automatically goes into transfer mode back to the home library - this option would stop that from happening and allow the librarian to decide when the book goes back to the main library.

Adding Kyle - is this the same as rotating collections? if so then you can mark this a dup of whatever enhancement request you had for rotating collections.

This issue is distinct from the rotating collections feature. I think all she needs to do is turn the syspref AutomaticItemReturn off. This will prevent the item from automatically being transfered.

I disagree - that's a blanket preference - we only want a preference for one branch - the bookmobile branch - all other branches we want to transfer automatically on return.

I see. So, perhaps there should be a per-branch preference to force AutomaticItemReturn. So for each branch, it could be Force On, Force Off, or Follow Systepref. I think this would allow for optimum flexability.

Maybe this could be solved using the floating collections configuration on the circulation rules pages now?

Is this still required? In the current version of Koha I can go into "Home › Administration › Circulation and fine rules", select a particular library and then set "Return policy" in the "Default checkout, hold and return policy for <library>" to be "Item returns to issuing library". If the particular library in question is a mobile library van, would this not mean that books it issued returned back to it? I think this matches up with the original request from seven years ago?
