In the inventory tool, the optional not for loan filter will report if a scanned item does not match any of the selected NFL statues. This is not true of of itemlost, withdrawn or damaged. The manual does not specify how these should behave. As far as I can tell, they do nothing. If I set an item to a value and check a different value checkbox, I get no problems reported.
It's inventory, every part of it does multiple things, all undocumented. If you don't upload barcodes, or if you check the checkbox to Compare barcodes list to results, then only things with the selected itemlost/withdrawn/damaged will be included in the report of things that you haven't yet scanned. Since all three are missing the essential "Not {whatever}" checkbox, that's fairly useless: you can say to only include the things that you didn't scan because they are withdrawn so you DON'T HAVE THEM ANYMORE, but not to say to only include the things you haven't scanned which are not withdrawn. That's bug 27923. notforloan is the only one that has a changestatus error message, which serves too many masters: if you select a notforloan value, you'll be told about things which have another notforloan value and things which have no notforloan value; if you don't choose a notforloan value, you'll be told about things which have a notforloan value that isn't defined in the NOT_LOAN authorized value category, with the message 'Item has unselected "Not for loan" status "9"' which is a very weird way to say "Item has the undefined notoforloan status '9'", and doing inventory is a very weird way to look for items with an undefined status. I can't think of a case where I would want to scan barcodes of lost or withdrawn items, and want to be told if any of them had a lost or withdrawn value other than the ones I had chosen, so I can't see wanting to expand that feature to those AVs. notforloan I can see, since you might be inventorying the "Not for loan - Staff collection" things and want to know if anything you scanned didn't have any notforloan, or instead had the one alphabetically above or below it.
Hi Indeed the lack of "Not {whatever}" checkbox is a major gap in inventory tool. It forced us not to use inventory in my library.
