Description Chris Cormack 2010-05-21 01:09:49 UTC

---- Reported by rch@liblime.com 2009-06-30 22:30:24 ----

A patron wishing to place a hold on a specific vol/issue cannot tell which one to choose if the itemcallnumber does not include the information.
The holds interface should include items.enumchron in the item-selection table.
(Mapped by default to 952â€Ħh in MARC21).

Is the "copy" column pulling from the items.enumchron? That was what we need because we need to see which volume or year that barcode represents. (we don't use the copy subfield)

If so, the heading "copy" is somewhat confusing. I can't suggest another except I believe I would prefer "volume no." or something.

Thank you for your feedback!

I was afraid to use up to much space in the items table with a new column for serial enumeration, so I chose to display it in the same column as copy number, divided by ','.

And I wanted it to show at the beginning of the table as its really important for the right choice of an item.

After sleeping over it, I'm not sure this is the best solution.

Perhaps better use a separate column 'Vol Info' that is only shown as second column if serial enumeration is used for an item of this title?

We have a fix for this in development as well -- it has a column for the volume number in both staff and OPAC, pulling from the 952$h Serial Enumeration/Chronology. I've attached a screenshot of the OPAC holds screen. This is about ready to send out, when our codemeister has a chance.

Jane's screenshot is closer to what I have envisioned.

Replaces first patch.

Screen looks like Jane's screenshot now, but column is only shown when needed.
